In just its first year of business, IKONIX Bikes achieved a milestone as the second-most-expensive BMX bike ever sold. The first prototype of Bob Haro’s IKONIX FS1 frameset, built complete with IKONIX parts and Skyway Tuffwheels sold at a charity auction in Ibiza Spain for £45,000 ($59,850).
This FS1 prototype was almost new, but arrived in Spain very dirty! It spent a week traveling 3000 km in the Gumball 3000 rally atop the Lamborghini Huracán STO of one of the IKONIX founders, John Ridley. It went from Istanbul through Italy, France and Spain finishing in Ibiza attracting massive attention along the way.
This is the second-most-expensive BMX bike ever auctioned. One of the two surviving Kuwahara BMX bikes used in the movie ET sold at auction for $115,200 in 2022.
The IKONIX FS1 prototype was sold at the Gumball 3000 rally as part of their Gumball 3000 Foundation charity auction at the finish of the iconic, annual supercar rally. The Gumball 3000 Foundation provides youth in low income communities with greater opportunities to learn valuable skills and disciplines that allow them to become the best version of themselves.
